Introduction:

In this blog post, you will get an idea of how to install Airtel 4G Dongle’s application in Ubuntu. You can install in any version of Ubuntu. This application is required to connect the internet via your dongle.

Steps:

  • Plug in your Airtel 4G dongle.
  • Open-File Browser and on the left side, open the folder of your Airtel Dongle.

  • Open Linux folder.

  • You must know whether your computer has a 64-bit or 32-bit architecture. For me, it’s a 64-bit architecture so I will be extracting the PCL_Airtel_64.tar.gz file. If you have 32-bit architecture then extract the PCL_Airtel.tar.gz one.

Note: You can check your Ubuntu OS architecture by opening ‘System Monitor’ application. Refer to this page for more details.

  • To extract, right-click PCL_Airtel_64.tar.gz and click extract.

  • Extract it to the desktop or any location you want.

  • Now, the main part is that you have to manually enter the code. So, close all windows.
  • After extracting, it’s better to plug out your Airtel Dongle.
  • Right-click and open terminal where you have extracted.

  • Type the command below and press enter.

sudo ./install.sh

  • Type your computer’s password and hit enter. *Note that your password will not be displayed while typing.

  • That’s it. Wait for some interval of time and it will be installed and will open.
  • Close that window and close terminal.

Now, whenever you plug in your dongle just open it from the dash by searching for Airtel 4G.

Uninstalling Airtel 4G Application:

In case, you don’t want to use this and want to uninstall, just follow the steps below:

  1. Open File Explorer > Other Locations > Computer > opt > Airtel_4G.
  2. Right-click and select Open in Terminal.
  3. Type:
sudo ./uninstall.sh

4. Type your password, and that’s it, it will be uninstalled.
